I have great respect for the courageous middle managers I’ve been coaching throughout the pandemic. Many are in high-pressure roles on the front line of the pandemic in some way. The volume of work has gone through the roof and the challenge to lead, manage and do has been overwhelming. It’s easy to argue that middle managers are the cogs making things work, the glue that keeps companies together.

As remote and hybrid working takes over, the distance between employees is increasing and middle managers are more important now than ever. They need attention, care, consideration, and support.

Middle managers are not simply strategic administrators. They are leaders and influential connectors within the business (HBR).

To be successful highly developed evaluation, innovation, and coordination behaviours are called for. Sophisticated communication skills are required to influence, engage, inspire and deliver. The ability to find common ground between people at different levels is key to achieving results and maintaining resilient trusting teams.
