Behavioural Neuroscience Vs Personality Psychology.

Personality psychology has contributed much towards identifying the important dimensions of personality, but relatively little to understanding the biological sources of those dimensions. However, the rapidly expanding field of neuroscience is increasingly shedding light on this topic. Personality neuroscience is the study of how a person’s brain influences that individual's behaviour.

Redundancy can be a very difficult time for some people. The 'Holmes-Rahe Stress Inventory' looks at how challenging events can impact long-term health. Job loss, changing to a different line of work and business readjustment appear in the top 20.

Research shows that our attitudes, opinions and thoughts have a direct impact on success. So, with that in mind, I have written this blog to encourage a growth mindset and a positive outlook.

What Are Personal Boundaries?

The limits and rules we set for ourselves within relationships and our lives. A person with healthy boundaries can say "no" to others when they want to, but they are also comfortable opening themselves up to intimacy and close relationships.

There's a healthy balance between work and life, consistent energy levels and a sense of fulfilment as opposed to exhaustion and burnout. 

Self-esteem is how we see our identity, self-belief is how we value our abilities. An overall feeling of confidence can transcend many of the challenges we’re faced with in our lives and career. Sometimes we do well, other times less well, but we can continue to believe that we will succeed in most things and in the long run. Positive self-belief creates a good impression on others and is a good predictor of success. It shows an ability to deal with setbacks and to accept both positive and negative consequences.

I met a stranger at the gym which is unusual because when I enter the gym it’s headset on, minimal eye contact, I’m here to train!

This stranger managed to have a big impact on my training and mindset with just a few short interactions. I reflected on that and realised he demonstrated a powerful process that can be adopted by anyone who wants to get the best out of people around them, be it their team, peers or friends.

Leaders are everywhere, not just in the office. Sometimes they pop up when you least expect it.

In our busy lives, we often find ourselves energetically entangled with people, situations, or past experiences, draining our precious energy and hindering our progress. Whether you hire them or not. If you manage this well, they will continue to support you. Lots of people have subconscious blocks around being worthy, deserving of investment or creating a life they love. I have clients who have harboured dreams for years but haven’t been able to move into action. They arrive at my door when they’re ready to stop circling the idea and start creating the life they truly desire.

Despite this having been a positive year in terms of ‘achievement’ it’s been a very challenging year for me personally.

I’ve realised it’s possible to be excited, driven and achieve success whilst simultaneously feeling fearful, not enough and to keep tumbling back into a scarcity mindset.

Limiting beliefs often originate from early childhood experiences and continue to develop as our subconscious mind absorbs messages from our environment, family, friends, teachers, and society. When we internalise feelings of inadequacy during our formative years, we can spend our entire adult lives believing we are not good enough and/or striving to prove our worth or to fit into a specific mould. Over time, we may forget or lose sight of our own values as we become susceptible to adopting other people's expectations.

There's talk of the next stage, rapport and laughing. It's about as picture perfect as an interview can be.

Watch out! Complacency at this point in the process kills job offers.

It's very easy to think 'phew, thank god it's over'. It's natural after all that hard work and nervous clock watching. However, if you're still in the presence of your interviewer you're still being assessed. Have you considered your interview technique at this point in the process? Have you chosen your mindset and set your intention?

Competency based interviews assess how likely you are to be competent at something based on your previous experience and past behaviour. If you're well prepared it's a great opportunity to showcase your skills and capabilities.
